Video has firmly established itself as one of the most effective ways to connect with audiences, build trust, and drive engagement. Whether you’re aiming to attract new customers, strengthen relationships with existing ones, or position your brand as a leader in your industry, video offers a dynamic and impactful medium to achieve your goals. Let’s explore why video is a must for any modern marketing strategy, supported by real-world examples of success.

1. The Power of Storytelling

Stories have always been a compelling way to convey a message, and video enhances storytelling by blending visuals, sound, and emotion. It allows your brand to create a narrative that resonates deeply with your audience, ensuring your message is remembered.

Real-World Example: A Manufacturing Company – Recruiting and Local Engagement

A manufacturing company in Northern Ireland struggled to attract skilled workers. To tackle this, we created a series of employee story videos that showcased real-life journeys within the company. One video highlighted a team member who started in an entry-level role and worked their way up to management, sharing how the company supported their growth.

The results were significant:

• New applications from local untapped talent.

• Enhanced reputation as an employer of choice.

• Stronger connections with the local community.

2. Immersive Experiences

Video transports viewers into a world that lets them see and feel your product or service, creating a memorable and immersive experience. It’s the next best thing to experiencing it in person.

Real-World Example: An Estate Agent – Showcasing High-End Properties

For an estate agent offering luxury homes, we created virtual property tours that allowed potential buyers to explore every detail of the homes from anywhere in the world. These videos included sweeping drone shots, close-ups of stunning interiors, and lifestyle elements like the sound of waves near coastal properties.

Key outcomes:

• Enabled overseas clients to view properties without travelling.

• Attracted buyers beyond the local market, including international audiences.

• Helped secure quicker, higher-value sales by creating a sense of aspiration and exclusivity - this property was sale agreed in under 1 week!

3. Authenticity and Human Connection

Audiences crave authenticity, and video is a powerful way to show the human side of your business. Whether it’s your team members sharing insights, behind-the-scenes glimpses, or client testimonials, video helps build trust.

Real-World Example: A Wholesale Distributor – Strengthening Client Relationships

We worked with a wholesale distributor to create a series of videos featuring their long-term clients. These videos showed authentic testimonials about how the distributor’s services added value to their businesses. The videos also introduced new product ranges with expert demonstrations and applications.

The impact included:

• Strengthened trust with existing clients by showing genuine success stories.

• Encouraged referrals through shared video content.

• Attracted new clients by demonstrating the breadth and quality of services offered.

4. Quick and Long-lasting Engagement

Video grabs attention faster than any other medium and holds it longer. With the ability to engage both visually and emotionally, video helps you communicate complex messages succinctly.

For instance, explainer videos or product demos can compress a wealth of information into just a few minutes, making them ideal for social media or website headers. On platforms like Instagram Reels or TikTok, short-form videos captivate audiences in just seconds, while longer formats on YouTube or LinkedIn allow for deeper storytelling.

5. Unmatched Versatility

One of video’s greatest strengths is its versatility. A single piece of content can be repurposed for social media, email campaigns, website banners, or even in-person presentations. Whether it’s a promotional video, a tutorial, or a live-streamed event, video can meet multiple goals across diverse channels.

Success Stories That Inspire

Manufacturing Company: By showcasing employee stories, this company built its reputation as a great place to work, increasing recruitment and boosting morale.

Wholesale Distributor: Client testimonials and product showcases helped solidify relationships and attract new customers.

Estate Agent: Aspirational video tours of luxury properties expanded their audience globally and sped up the sales process.

First, let's start with the basics: what is the Facebook pixel? In short, the Facebook pixel is a piece of code that you can add to your website that allows you to track and measure the effectiveness of your advertising on Facebook.

But why should you care about the Facebook pixel? Here are a few reasons:

In short, the Facebook pixel is like a magic wand for your Facebook advertising. It allows you to track and measure the effectiveness of your ads, retarget people who have visited your website, and create better ads. And all you have to do is add a little bit of code to your website.

But wait, there's more! The Facebook pixel can also help with things like:

So, if you want to reach more potential customers and make more sales, it's time to get the Facebook pixel installed on your website. Trust us, your advertising budget will thank you. As a digital marketing agency based in Belfast, we know a thing or two about the importance of social media for small businesses in Northern Ireland. And let us tell you, it's not just for keeping up with your mates or sharing pictures of your dinner - it's a crucial tool for growing your business.

But don't just take our word for it. Here are five reasons why your small business needs to be on social media:

  1. It's where your customers are. Let's be honest, most of us spend more time scrolling through our social feeds than we do watching telly or reading the paper. And that means that your potential customers are likely spending a good chunk of their time on social media too. By having a presence on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, you can reach them where they're already hanging out and get your business in front of their eyes.
  2. It's a great way to show off your brand. Social media is a fantastic platform for showcasing your brand and what makes it unique. Whether it's sharing pictures of your products, highlighting your company values, or just giving your followers a glimpse into the day-to-day life of your business, social media allows you to tell your brand's story in a way that feels personal and authentic.
  3. It's a cost-effective way to advertise. Gone are the days when you had to spend a fortune on print ads or TV commercials to get the word out about your business. With social media, you can reach a huge audience for a fraction of the cost. And the best part? You can target your ads to specific demographics, interests, and locations to make sure you're only reaching the people who are most likely to be interested in your business.
  4. It's a great way to connect with your customers. Social media isn't just about pushing out marketing messages - it's also a great way to build relationships with your customers. Whether it's responding to comments and messages, sharing user-generated content, or just having a bit of craic with your followers, social media allows you to create a sense of community and engagement around your brand.
  5. It's a valuable source of market research. Social media can be a goldmine of information about your customers and the market you're operating in. By monitoring your social media channels, you can learn about the things your customers are interested in, the challenges they're facing, and the trends that are shaping your industry. This information can be incredibly valuable for everything from product development to marketing strategy.

In short, if you're a small business in Northern Ireland and you're not on social media, you're missing out. So why not join the party and give it a go!

Good things take time, and blog posts are no exception. Fellow blog writers will understand, the journey from topic selection through to publishing your work can command hours of our time.

Of course, if the blog post doesn’t generate the traffic you hoped for, it can leave you feeling a little deflated, especially after you dedicated so much time and effort into writing it.

Naturally, you’ll want your content to rank highly on Google so you have the best chance of being discovered and having people click through to your site. But how can you improve your ranking on Google?

3 magic words - Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO for short.

1. Make Life Easier for Google

Help Google out through your use of headings, from H1 (your main title), to H2, H3 and H4, which should be used to break down the subtopics within your blog. This will help Google’s web crawlers understand what your blog is about and the different sections within it.

2. Keep it Human and Helpful

It’s easy to lose sight of the people your blog post is ultimately being written for, especially with all this SEO talk and trying to please Google. It’s important to write high-quality blogs with humans in mind, that answer the queries your target market has around your industry, products and services.

3 Tips to Keep it Human

3. Kill the Kilobytes, Not Your Page Loading Speed

You want your page to load as fast as possible for the sake of creating a good user experience, but did you know Google rewards pages with fast loading speeds too?

Images can be lethal on your page loading speed if they’re not compressed to a smaller file size. This tends to become an issue if you have multiple images over 100KB each.

You shouldn’t have to compromise on quality either, and with free apps just like squoosh.app, you don’t have to!

4. Find Out What Your Potential Customers Are Searching For

You want your potential customers to find your content and an SEO friendly way to do this is by targeting the keywords they are searching for. But how do you know which keywords they’re searching for?

That’s where keyword research tools come in! One of the most popular sites is Ahrefs (the full version will require a paid subscription), however another popular site (and free to access) is Google Keyword Planner - it allows you to see what keywords users are searching for and their popularity by search volume and how those searches have changed over time.

5. Build a Link Building Strategy

If you want to rank well on Google, you should focus on building a link building strategy.

But what is link building? It’s the process of building the number of inbound links from other reputable, high quality websites. These are also referred to as backlinks.

A backlink essentially acts as a thumbs up to Google in saying that the content of your blog post is of good quality and worthy of being shared, which will allow Google to trust your content and increase your ranking on the search engine results page (SERP).

Conclusion

Writing for SEO (while keeping the human on the other end in mind) can help your content rank higher on Google, making it more discoverable among searchers. It’s important to know that you won’t see results right away, and that this process takes time and effort. Remember, good things are worth waiting for.

People in every industry love to use acronyms. Whether it is used to reduce the amount of words needed or maybe to bamboozle (not often you hear that word) people into thinking they’re an expert or sometimes just to speak in code that others don’t understand, (I remember a teacher once telling me about her CRAFT group, this wasn’t a really artsy selection of kids, rather it stood for the lovely little kids who Can’t Read a Flipping Thing!).

Whatever the reason, it’s safe to say acronyms are EVERYWHERE!

In digital marketing, we have our fair share, ROAS, CPA, CTR, ROI (this isn’t Republic of Ireland which can get confusing) the list is endless, but here is one that everyone should know and pay significant attention to - CTA!

Call To Action (CTA) is all about the next step you want someone to take, it’s a big ‘Now What?’ that people often forget about.

It’s great having a pretty website or a stunning video or a funny Reel, but there should always be a ‘Now What?’ involved in the planning because without the ‘Now Whats’ the marketing has no focus.

Over the last few months we have been working with one of our wonderful clients to help bring a clear CTA to one of their marketing campaigns. We used Calendly - a free booking system, to set up a platform where possible customers could arrange an appointment by checking the calendar availability of the company’s staff to make a hassle free appointment that suited everyone. The calendar also integrated with the staff’s own calendars so bookings would only happen where there was availability.

In the last few months, this has lead to over 30 appointment for initial consultations which has the potential for a revenue of over £100,000, all without them having to have an extra member of staff arranging appointments over the phone or back and forward through email.

Not all CTAs are monetary but there should always be a desired outcome for any of your marketing.

The 5th of August is a pretty monumental day in history. On this day in the year 1100, Henry 1 was crowned the King of England. In 1884, the foundations of the Statue of Liberty were laid, in 1912 the first taxi cabs started operating in Japan and in 1914 the first traffic lights were installed in Ohio. In 1973, the Soviet spacecraft Mars 6 was launched and in 2013 the first lan-grown burger was eaten in London. Not to mention, Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, was born on the 5th August. As was I. You can decide for yourself which one of us is more iconic. However, the second most important thing to happen on the 5th August, after me being born of course, happened in 2020 when Instagram launched Instagram Reels.

Despite only being a mere 14 months old, Instagram Reels are already one of Instagram’s most important features. But why?

Video Content Gets Better Reach

Quite often when a platform introduces a new feature, they give priority to any content using it. This is the case for Instagram Reels. They are featured on the explore page which can help with your presence and visability, and ensures your content is seen by more than your followers.

Some of our most popular posts on Instagram are our ‘Day in the Life’ reels! This is your sign to go check them out.

If a picture says a thousand words, how many does a video say?

We all have that really annoying friend who insists on calling rather than texting. The truth is though, sometimes you can’t say what you want to say with a few lines of text. In the same way, video content allows you to communicate your message a lot more than a photo. Reels allow you to show off the parts of your business that you can’t otherwise, which leads me to my final point.

Reels Give your Brand a Face

Reels are an amazing way to humanise your brand. People love to support people and through reels you can show off your personality (if you have one) and give your followers a behind the scenes look at your business. Reels are a unique way to tell your brand story, and show all the important people and things that make your business tick.

Here are some ideas on how to get started using reels:

I was recently asked by my friend Camilla Long from Bespoke Communications to do a presentation/workshop for people who needed to create a slide deck for a presentation they were giving as part of the amazing webinar series that Camilla was running (check them out here).

Here is the video of the presentation which is based around using Canva. For the uninitiated, Canva is a one-stop-shop for all your design needs and has been a game changer for so many businesses.

This is based on the free version on Canva which has a huge range of fantastic features, although the paid version unlocks even more functionality for a really reasonable monthly subscription (you can even get the first month free!)

Ever stuck thinking to yourself - “how do I change the size of a video for instagram stories” or “how do I combine videos together” or even, “surely there are apps that make social media easier”… never fear, we have the answer for you!

The number of types of content, dimensions, placements and lengths or video never stops changing as each platform pivots to try and hold onto their audience.

Instagram have just announced that they are no longer a photo sharing platform, instead focussed on video and entertainment. They along offer posts, stories, IGTV and reels, each with a different set of requirements.

To try and make your life easier and save you time, we have compiled a list of 10 apps that we love and think you will too.

Most of these apps are free, although some offer subscriptions that allow you to unlock features and advanced functionality.

Download the FREE PDF and check out these apps that will save you time, help you upskill and enable you to produce even better content for your audience.
